A plain Biedermeier chest of drawers in cherry, a small sewing table, a secretary desk with its original surface, a narrow display cabinet: pieces like these regularly fetch four-figure prices, yet to the untrained eye they look like ordinary old furniture. Veneer is a hallmark of quality craftsmanship, not a flaw - a common misconception.
Signs that a valuation is worthwhile: solid or veneered hardwood (cherry, walnut, mahogany), hand-cut dovetail joints in the drawers, old locks and fittings, a piece that has been in the family for generations.
How to proceed with an estate
- Do not throw anything away yet. Especially not furniture that looks old, heavy or unfashionable - that is where the value hides.

No. The valuation works entirely with photographs. You photograph the piece where it stands - in the flat, the house or the storage unit - and upload the pictures. Nothing needs to be moved.
What does it cost to value several pieces from an estate?
Each written appraisal costs EUR 19.90 per piece. For larger estates or complete household clearances we prepare an individual quote - for more than five pieces an on-site visit is often the better option. Just contact us by e-mail or phone.
Is the appraisal sufficient for dividing an estate among heirs?
For a private agreement among heirs a documented, neutral valuation is usually all that is needed - that is exactly what you receive from us. If a court or the tax office requires a formal report, a publicly appointed and sworn expert is the right address.
Do you also buy inherited furniture?
Yes. If you decide to sell after the valuation, we make you a fair offer or recommend the best sales channel. The EUR 19.90 for the appraisal is credited against the purchase price if we buy the piece.
