About this piece

This fine Biedermeier commode is crafted from solid cherrywood, showing the warm, honey-toned patina and rich grain typical of the finest examples from South Germany, circa 1840. The gently curved top, rounded corner pilasters, and three generously proportioned drawers reflect the restrained elegance characteristic of the Biedermeier period. The commode retains its original locks, while the brass key handles have been sympathetically replaced to match the period style. The piece has been professionally restored and hand-polished, bringing out the natural beauty and figure of the cherry veneer and solid wood construction. It rests on simple turned bun feet, lending a grounded yet refined presence. With clean lines and understated ornamentation, this commode exemplifies the Biedermeier ideal of functional beauty suited to both traditional and contemporary interiors. Measuring 84 cm high x 115 cm wide x 60 cm deep (33 in x 45.3 in x 23.6 in), it offers ample storage with graceful proportions. A wonderful example of German cabinetmaking from the early 19th century, combining craftsmanship, warmth, and enduring style.
